Wargods V Results
5/1/09
It never rains in Southern California, but Wargods are in town, what is to be expected? Battling the weather and cancellation rumors, Wargods V is in the books with the showcasing of their new warriors. Lew Polley, who had a tough time making weight, did not have a tough time taking Vernon “The Tiger” White down repeatedly in his unanimous decision victory. Lew Polley is not only in top contention for the Heavy Weight belt but, he is considering moving up into the Heavyweight decision and challenging Lavar Johnson.
The lightweight tournament provided many fireworks. Kit Cope listening to rumors left himself out of the quest for the light weight title. Now, Brian Trevers and Joe Duarte find themselves as the top contenders with Steve Magdaleno close behind.
Throwing himself back into the ring of contention, Isaac De Jesus, an undefeated lightweight standout, has told Wargods that he wants a shot at the Lightweight belt. Isaac De Jesus was left out of the tournament because he had decided to drop down into the Featherweight division.

Polley in for Haynes
MMA Veteran Vernon “Tiger” White will now face Canadian ECC Lightweight Champion Lew Polley at Wargods “Five” at the Viejas Casino in Alpine, California. Lew Polley, a former American Top Team member and IFL vet, comes to Wargods via Temecula’s Team Quest. Polley is looking to establish himself as a top contender for Wargods’ vacant Light Heavyweight belt. However, before he can do that he must get past “Tiger” White.
“Vernon (White) wants to keep fighting and he is in great shape; meanwhile, Lew (Polley) is an up and comer with incredible strength and talent. Vernon has fought the who’s who in the MMA World, from UFC to Pride, and was the King of The Cage champion for years. This will be a test for both men and we look forward to keeping them both busy in our organization,” states Marcelo Rivas, promoter for Wargods.
Wargods is looking to showcase their new talent and exciting fighters much like was done at “The Valentine’s Eve Massacre”. This event featured Ken Shamrock and Tank Abbott which had 200,000 views on the Sherdog live web stream.
That night, viewers also got a peak at the next generation of MMA Stars such as,
Mike Moreno, Rick Reeves, Isaac De Jesus, and Zoila Frausto. Wargods V will be filmed for live Television Broadcast so expect nothing less.
The main card will begin with a four man elimination tournament that will culminate June 20th back at Viejas Casino crowning Wargods’ First Lightweight Champion. In the first bracket, Kit Cope will now face up and coming Steve Magdaleno, who is undefeated after five fights including a strong preformance in Japan's Pancrase Tournament. Skilled vet, David Gardner, to take on San Diego favorite, Joe Duarte; featured on Spike TV’s Ultimate Fighter reality show.
Wargods has allocated an alternate bracket in the case that one of the winning fighters receives a medical suspension due to a cut or injury. In that bracket, PFC Welterweight Champion, Bryan Travers will be meeting Tom Belt for the chance to fight for the Lightweight Crown or to the least be the next in line for the title shot.
On the rest of the card, 4 Win and 0 Loss Lucas Gamaza will be matched up against another 4 Win and 0 Loss welterweight, Tarec Saffiedine. San Diego "Bad Boy" Rick Slaton will now compete in the middle division against Derek Thornton. Ryan Shamrock will also be featured on the card. This is Wargods first of six shows in Southern California for this year.
